CLASH MAGAZINE

CLASH magazine is a prototype which was launched in 2016 and was pitched to a panel of industry professionals who provided feedback and advice. It's a lifestyle and culture magazine, with the tag line "challenging normality", as we set out to cover a variety of culturally significant topics.

I acted as the editor of the magazine, as well as the editor of the music section. This was a particularly challenging role, as I had a large team to manage but I also found it an invaluable experience. It involved leadership skills, ensuring the magazine had consistency throughout the team's articles and that everyone met their deadlines. Additionally, I had to approve article ideas and proof-read every piece before they went to the final print.

The gallery on the left provides images of the various spreads I was involved in predominantly, as well as the pieces I wrote. Creating the spreads to an industry standard relied heavily on using InDesign and Photoshop skills.

As I was the editor of the music section, I decided which articles would feature here and wrote all of the pieces. This included a three page spread with an in-depth interview of a successful artist in the industry. Other pieces included a shorter feature and listicle.

As well as this, I wrote the editor's letter for the magazine and contributed to various group spreads. Being a Christmas edition, the team made a Christmas gift guide, which features more towards the front of the magazine. Each writer from each section selected a gift they had their eyes on that year, where to get it and for what price. We felt this added a fun element to the magazine and it was nice to work on a spread as a team.
