During work experience at NME, I pitched an idea for their website. Taylor Swift had just announced that she would be launching her own app so it seemed appropriate to write a listicle of all of the previous artists that had ventured down this path too.

THE CODPAST BLOGS
The image to the left displays one of the longer feature pieces I wrote while working for The Codpast. This piece involved researching the playwright who has dyslexia and providing an overview of how the play helps to spread awareness around dealing with dyslexia.
The example on the left here shows the type of review pieces I would often write for The Codpast. This is a review of Tim Burton’s film, Miss. Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and was selected for the website because the actress Lauren McCrostie is dyslexic. McCrostie plays one of the main characters, Olive.
The Codpast is an online resource with helpful advice and videos for young adults with dyslexia.

THE KENT MESSENGER NEWSPAPER
The spreads on the left are from my time carrying out work experience at my local regional newspaper - the Kent Messenger.

I was only at the paper for one week but in that time I managed to get two pieces published in their weekly newspaper.
​
The first one was conducted via a phone interview with a man who suffers from limb-girdle dystrophy. Despite his difficulties with walking, he had decided to take part in a charity walk. The piece discusses the event's successes and the money raised for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
The article on the left was the main product from my time at Kent Messenger. This involved an in-depth interview with an army veteran who had been badly affected from his experiences and was suffering from PTSD.

However, the man found salvation when a friend introduced him to diving and due to this, he made the decision to sell his belongings and move to the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand to become a diving instructor.
