Google releases the key to Abbey Road Success

The famous Abbey Road Studios has unlocked it’s doors for the first time and divulged the secrets of their musical history. A collaboration between the world renowned studios and Google’s creative technology has produced the project, ‘Inside Abbey Road’.

Lead Creative, Tom Seymour at Google Creative Lab said: “Wouldn’t it be amazing to show everyone how it is done, how music is made today”. Stepping inside the project you are taken on a musical journey, with the help of LIDAR scanners, the entirety of the studio has been mapped onto a 3D model.

This enables exploration of the studio through video footage that has been mapped, in the exact positions where filming took place. Seymour said there is also the opportunity available to “get hands on with the interactive systems in the studio”, which means music enthusiasts or simply those of a more curious nature, could delve into discovering iconic moments in history.

The collaboration developed research to give the public three hours worth of content to explore. This includes video footage leading back from the 60s, to interviews with current artists such as, Sam Smith and Jay-Z. A discography of Abbey Road’s recordings is now available to download directly from Google Play.

Over one million people interacted with the project in just one week, showing how projects such as this can truly inspire people and as Seymour said: “It is a true testament to musical history.”
